Is the 2022 Mazda CX-3 still relevant compared to the CX-30 in Canada?
The 2022 Mazda CX-3 occupied an increasingly difficult position against the CX-30, launched in 2020. The CX-3 was powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.0L naturally aspirated engine producing 148 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. AWD was available as an option. The CX-3 2022 is smaller and less powerful than the CX-30 (186 hp), but also less expensive: it started around $24,200 for the GX FWD, while the CX-30 GX FWD began at $26,200. The CX-3's primary value proposition remained its lower entry price, more compact urban dimensions (helpful for parking in dense city environments), and slightly lower fuel consumption (approximately 8.8 L/100 km combined vs 9.2 L/100 km for the CX-30). For urban Canadian commuters with a tight budget seeking an easy-to-park vehicle in Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver, the CX-3 retained genuine relevance in the 2022 model year.
