Tacoma 2024+ or Tacoma 2016-2023: which one should I buy today?
The right answer depends on your use case. The third generation (2016-2023) with the V6 2GR-FKS is a proven engine with a well-documented service record past 200,000 km, easy to maintain anywhere in Canada — but its 6-speed automatic is criticized for hesitant gear changes, a flaw that a TCU recalibration improves without fully resolving. The fourth generation (2024+) with the 2.4L turbo 228-hp engine and 8-speed gearbox is noticeably more dynamic, but with only two years on the road, its 200,000-km durability is not yet validated.
