Honda launched the sixth-generation CR-V for 2023 with a more conservative exterior than the avant-garde fifth gen, a significantly larger cabin, and — critically — a new plug-in hybrid variant called the CR-V PHEV. The PHEV uses a 2.0L Atkinson engine with a 17.7-kWh battery for approximately 72 km of electric range — the best PHEV range in the compact SUV class at launch. That qualifies for federal iZEV rebates in Canada, pushing effective pricing well below sticker. The 1.5T continues for non-PHEV buyers with a revised block that fully resolves prior oil dilution concerns. The interior jumps a full class level in perceived quality, and the cargo area grew to 1,110 litres behind the rear seats. For Ontario buyers commuting from suburbs to city cores, the PHEV's electric-only range covers most daily round trips without touching gasoline.
