Is the CX-5 about to be replaced by the CX-50 in Mazda Canada's strategy, or does Mazda maintain both models?
Mazda maintains both models in parallel for 2026 in Canada, with a clarified differentiation. The 2026 CX-5 remains the comfort-quality-value midsize SUV, with pricing from $32,000 to $50,000. The CX-50 targets buyers who value light off-road capability and a rugged style. Both share the SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture platform, but the CX-5 retains class-leading ground clearance for this SUV segment (222 mm) while offering a more refined cabin with higher-grade dashboard materials. Mazda Canada confirmed the CX-5 will not be discontinued before at least 2028 — sales volumes remain too significant (the CX-5 remains Mazda's best-selling SUV in Canada). The next-generation CX-5 is expected with a standard hybrid powertrain.
