The 2025 4Runner is a complete redesign — the sixth generation — on a new TNGA-F body-on-frame platform. The 4.0L V6 is replaced by a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder producing 278 hp in standard configuration, with a hybrid variant using a 2.4T combined with an electric motor for 326 hp system output. The hybrid is the more significant powertrain: it delivers meaningfully better fuel consumption — Toyota claims approximately 10.4 L/100 km combined — and adds an e-Axle rear motor for improved off-road torque vectoring. The five-speed automatic is replaced by an eight-speed automatic. Interior quality makes a generational jump: an 8-inch standard / 14-inch optional touchscreen runs Toyota's latest Multimedia system. The TRD Pro adds fox internal bypass shocks and an available rear electronic locking differential.
