Is the 2026 Jeep Cherokee a relaunched model or a completely new vehicle after the production pause?
The 2026 Cherokee represents the return of the nameplate after a two-year production hiatus — Stellantis suspended manufacturing at the Belvidere, Illinois plant in 2023. The 2026 version rides on a partially updated platform that borrows architectural elements from the Grand Cherokee L, including a revised front suspension and the updated Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 10.1-inch screen as standard. The 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder producing 270 hp is carried over, but a 48V mild-hybrid system is introduced as standard equipment on the Trailhawk trim. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2.0T AWD improves to the equivalent of 11.3 L/100 km combined — a 0.5 L improvement over the last 2023 model. The base warranty remains 3 years/60,000 km.
