What are the main differences between the 2024 Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster?
The 2024 Porsche 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster share the same platform, powertrains, and fundamentally the same driving experience, but differ structurally. The Cayman is a coupe with a fixed steel roof (or carbon fibre on the GT4 RS), while the Boxster is a soft-top roadster. The Cayman's fixed roof provides marginally greater structural rigidity — a measurable advantage during track driving. The Cayman also offers two trunks — front (150 L) and rear (270 L for a total of 425 L) — versus the Boxster's combined 280 L, making it more practical for extended trips. The Cayman is typically approximately $3,000 less expensive than the equivalent Boxster in Canada — the base Cayman starts around $83,200. GTS 4.0 versions of both use the magnificent naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six producing 394 hp. Porsche has confirmed the current 718 generation will be the last combustion-powered version before transitioning to an electric platform.
