What infotainment and connectivity improvements does the 2022 Edge bring over the 2021?
Ford updated the 2022 Edge with SYNC 3.4 and added wireless Android Auto standard across all trims — it was wired-only on base 2021 models. Wireless Apple CarPlay is similarly included on the 2022. Ford's SYNC AppLink framework allows compatible third-party apps to display on the 8-inch screen. On ST-Line and Titanium trims, Qi wireless phone charging is now standard (previously optional on the 2021). Ford hasn't yet made the leap to the larger SYNC 4 touchscreen — the 8-inch screen remains — but the wireless connectivity additions resolve the most frequent 2021 usability complaints. For navigation, built-in mapping is optional via the Titanium Navigation package; the wireless phone projection option makes Waze and Google Maps seamlessly usable without the added cost.
