Is the 2026 Kia K4 the direct successor to the Forte or a repositioned model in the lineup?
The 2026 Kia K4 is the successor to the Forte, renamed to align with Kia's global numeric naming convention (K3, K5, K8). The name change comes with a substantive evolution: the K4 2026 adopts the "Opposites United" design language with more sculpted lines, a long hood, and a more dynamic stance than the Forte it replaces. Ground clearance is slightly higher compared to the Forte — a practical adaptation to Canadian road conditions in winter. The Forte's CVT transmission is replaced by a torque-converter automatic with 7 or 8 speeds depending on trim, a direct improvement in throttle response that was the primary complaint Canadian drivers had about the Forte.
