The xDrive system in the 3 Series is a permanent AWD setup with a variable 40/60 front-to-rear torque split that can shift up to 100 percent toward whichever axle has the best grip. On snow-packed or icy northern Ontario and Quebec highways, xDrive combined with proper three-peak mountain snowflake certified winter tires provides active safety well beyond front-wheel-drive alternatives.
