Does the 2026 Range Rover Velar change its powertrain lineup compared to the 2025 in Canada?
Land Rover simplifies the Velar lineup for 2026 in Canada: the P250 (2.0L four-cylinder turbo, 247 hp) is discontinued, leaving the P400 (48V mild-hybrid inline-6, 395 hp) as the sole powertrain available in this market. This rationalization reflects actual buyer preferences — Canadian customers were already choosing the P400 overwhelmingly. The 2026 Velar P400 hits 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, returns 10.2 L/100 km on the combined cycle, and benefits from braking energy recovery via the 48V MHEV system. The single powertrain also simplifies the ordering process — extended delivery delays had been observed with multiple powertrain options in prior model years. Entry prices rise by approximately $4,200 CAD as a result of retiring the P250 trim.
