How does the Palisade's 3.8L V6 hold up against Japanese V6 alternatives?
The Lambda II 3.8L GDI has accumulated a strong reliability record since introduction, with no major connecting-rod or timing-system recalls. Its chain-driven timing system eliminates the costly belt replacement intervals required on certain Honda and Toyota V6 engines. Real-world combined fuel consumption runs around 12.5 L/100 km in a Canadian winter, on par with the Toyota Highlander 3.5L V6. The one maintenance note: GDI-only injection on the Lambda II can build carbon deposits on intake valves over extended low-load driving. The 2022 and later Palisade adds a secondary port injector (Dual Port and Direct Injection) that prevents this deposit issue structurally, making post-2022 units preferable for high-mileage buyers.
