Does the 2026 Aviator Grand Touring PHEV revise its plug-in hybrid powertrain following criticism of the 2024 model?
Lincoln introduces a notable revision to the Aviator Grand Touring PHEV for 2026: the lithium-ion battery grows from 13.6 kWh to 18.9 kWh, raising the rated electric range from 43 km to approximately 65 km — a substantial improvement for Canadian commuters. The electric motor is reconfigured to deliver more torque on cold starts, correcting the reluctance observed below -15°C on 2023–2025 models. AC charging now accepts up to 11 kW (three-phase Level 2 EVSE), reducing full charge time to approximately 2 hours versus 3.5 hours previously. Combined with the 3.0L twin-turbo V6 for 494 total hp, the 2026 Aviator Grand Touring offers the best range-performance combination in its class. The $5,000 iZEV incentive remains applicable on configurations whose MSRP respects the eligible threshold.
