Is the 2026 Subaru Forester an all-new generation or a refresh of the existing model?
The 2026 Forester marks the start of a new generation built on the revised SGP (Subaru Global Platform) with a wheelbase stretched 30 mm, providing meaningfully more rear-passenger legroom — a long-standing complaint about the previous generation. The 2.5L direct and port-injected Boxer engine returns, with output nudged to 185 hp (from 182 hp on the 2025). The e-Boxer mild-hybrid system — available in Europe and Japan — has not been confirmed for the Canadian market in 2026. The interior adopts a new dashboard with a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen on Premier and Touring trims, and interior material quality is noticeably improved over the 2019–2025 generation.
