Did the 2023 Escape address the 1.5L engine issues reported on the 2022?
Ford incorporated mid-cycle corrections in the 2023 Escape: the 1.5L EcoBoost piston rings were revised to eliminate the excessive oil consumption documented on early 2022 series. The cooling system calibration was also optimized for Canadian winter conditions (-30°C), reducing the prolonged warm-up cycles reported in Alberta and Quebec. The 2023 Escape therefore represents a more refined version of this powertrain than the 2022. The Ford 5-year/100,000 km powertrain warranty remains transferable on the used market if prescribed maintenance intervals were honoured at an authorized Ford dealer.
