The 2024 BMW 5 Series (G60 generation) is a complete redesign, available in Canada as the 530i (B48 2.0T at 255 hp), 540i xDrive (B58 3.0T inline-six at 375 hp), M560i xDrive (S68 V8 at 563 hp), and — for the first time — the fully electric i5 eDrive40 (340 hp, 84.4 kWh, 519 km range) and i5 M60 xDrive (601 hp). The G60's wheelbase grows 32 mm over the G30. iDrive 8.5 with a standard 14.9-inch Curved Display is fitted. The 530i gains a 48V mild-hybrid system for the first time. The i5's integration of EV powertrain into the 5 Series body means buyers choosing between 540i xDrive and i5 eDrive40 are comparing directly equivalent body styles with different energy sources — an unusual and direct comparison point not available in previous generations. BMW's panoramic glass roof is standard on 540i and above in Canada, no longer available as a delete. Canadian pricing for the 540i xDrive starts near $85,000.
