How does 800V architecture change the real-world charging experience in Canada?
At 150 kW stations and below, the IONIQ 5 charges at roughly the same speed as any 400V competitor. The difference appears at 350 kW stations on the Electrify Canada network, where peak charge power reaches 233 kW — recovering 100 km of range in under five minutes. On a Toronto-to-Ottawa run, that translates to a single 18-minute stop instead of two. The 800V system also produces significantly less heat in the cable and battery pack during peak charging sessions, which protects long-term cell health better than a 400V design operating at equivalent current levels.
