Does the 2026 Mazda CX-30 finally integrate the e-SKYACTIV X powertrain, or does it remain on the 2.0L and 2.5L Turbo in Canada?
The 2026 CX-30 in Canada is offered with the naturally aspirated 2.5L (191 hp, GX through GT) and the 2.5L Turbo (250 hp, GT Turbo and Kodo Design Edition) — the e-SKYACTIV X spark-controlled compression ignition engine is not certified in Canada for this model. Mazda has focused e-SKYACTIV X deployment on European markets where emissions regulations favour it most. For 2026, the CX-30 GT with the 2.5L Turbo remains the performance standout in this compact segment — 250 hp paired with i-ACTIV AWD places the CX-30 on par with the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line in acceleration (0–100 km/h in 6.2 s) while returning a more reasonable 9.8 L/100 km in Canadian winter use. No plug-in hybrid version is announced for the CX-30 before 2028.
