Does the 2026 CX-90 PHEV correct the 3-cylinder vibration issues reported on early 2023–2024 units?
Mazda did apply targeted technical corrections to the CX-90 PHEV powertrain for 2026. The low-rpm vibrations on the 2.5L Atkinson four-cylinder (frequently misidentified as a three-cylinder) affecting 2023–2024 cold-start units between -15°C and -25°C originated from an overly aggressive warm-up calibration when transitioning from EV to thermal mode. Mazda Canada first issued TSB MA-2024-032 in October 2024 partially addressing the issue, then integrated a definitive correction into the factory calibration for all CX-90 PHEVs built since January 2025 — meaning all 2026 model year units include it from the factory. Owners of 2023 and 2024 CX-90 PHEVs can have this recalibration applied at no charge under warranty at any Mazda dealership.
