Jeep Gladiator 2023

The 2023 Gladiator receives a mid-cycle refresh with revised front fascia styling that aligns it more closely with the JL Wrangler facelift, updated LED headlights as standard on Rubicon and Mojave, and a new 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen available on higher trims. The powertrain lineup is unchanged: 3.6L Pentastar V6 in standard and eTorque mild-hybrid configurations, plus the 3.0L EcoDiesel on Rubicon and Overland. The Willys Sport trim gains a popularity boost in Canada with improved content at a competitive entry price. Rubicon X appearance package adds unique graphics and interior colour options. The manual transmission is retained on the base Sport trim; Jeep's position is that its availability supports Gladiator buyers who use the truck for work and trail applications where granular gear control matters. Uconnect's over-the-air update capability is now active on 2023 builds in Canada.

Questions fréquentes

01

What are the price and trim levels of the 2023 Jeep Gladiator in Canada?

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is the only mid-size pickup truck with Wrangler-class off-road capability available in Canada. Its base price starts at approximately $46,545 for the Sport S with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 producing 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual (or 8-speed automatic as an option). The lineup includes Sport S, Willys, North (approximately $51,045), Overland (approximately $55,045), Mojave (approximately $58,045), and Rubicon (approximately $62,045). The EcoDiesel 3.0L turbo V6 producing 260 hp and 442 lb-ft is available as an option on several trims for approximately $4,000 extra. The Rubicon is the premium off-road version featuring the Rock-Trac 4WD system, electronic front and rear Dana locking differentials, and disconnecting front sway bar. Towing capacity reaches 3,469 kg (7,650 lb) and payload up to 730 kg depending on configuration. Destination charges are approximately $1,895.

02

Is the 2023 Jeep Gladiator practical as a versatile utility vehicle in Canada?

The 2023 Jeep Gladiator offers a unique combination of a truck bed (1.52 m length) and Wrangler-class off-road capability. For Canadians who need a vehicle capable of hauling cargo (building materials, camping gear, ATVs) while accessing 4x4 trails, the Gladiator has no direct competitor. Its open bed is less protected than the locked box of a Colorado or Ranger, but a tonneau cover ($600 to $1,200) partially addresses this. The Gladiator's overall length of 5.58 m (Crew Cab configuration) can complicate parking in dense urban settings. The 3.6L V6 fuel consumption ranges from 13.5 to 15L/100 km in mixed driving — significantly more than a comparable Colorado or Ranger. Insurance costs are in line with mid-size trucks, approximately $1,500 to $2,500 per year depending on the province. For primarily highway use without off-roading, the Gladiator is over-specified; for a Canadian outdoor adventurer, it is nearly unbeatable.

03

Is the EcoDiesel engine in the 2023 Jeep Gladiator worth the price premium in Canada?

The EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 option in the 2023 Jeep Gladiator (260 hp, 442 lb-ft) costs approximately $4,000 more than the V6 petrol. Its advantages for Canadian drivers are tangible: official fuel consumption of approximately 10.7L/100 km combined (versus 13.5L/100 km for the petrol V6), saving approximately $900 to $1,200 per year for 20,000 km at $1.70/L for diesel. Its substantial torque of 442 lb-ft available from low revs is ideal for towing or low-speed off-road crawling in 4L mode. The financial break-even point is reached after approximately 4 to 5 years of mixed driving. Drawbacks: diesel fuel can be harder to find in very remote areas of Canada; diesel maintenance costs (diesel particulate filter, AdBlue fluid) add approximately $200 to $300 per year compared to the petrol V6. For users who tow regularly or make frequent long highway trips, the diesel is clearly justified. For primarily urban use with occasional off-roading, the petrol V6 is simpler and less expensive long-term.
